TakeGreatPictures.com prepares for National Photo Month in May; offers tips, photo contest

TakeGreatPictures.com, an online resource for consumer photographers of all ages and abilities, will celebrate National Photo Month this May with a spring and summer Photo Tips campaign that encourages people to get out and take pictures in their community. TakeGreatPictures.com is the major activity of the Photography Information Council, jointly operated by PMA and the PhotoImaging Manufacturers and Distributors Association (PMDA).
The centerpiece of the campaign is a series of articles by TakeGreatPictures.com contributors with tips on taking memorable photos in the spring and summer. There will also be articles on placing photos in scrapbooks, photo albums, coffee table books, puzzles, mugs, and T-shirts.

TakeGreatPictures.com is also running a National Photo Month contest during May. Entrants can submit their best spring- or summer-themed photo to be judged by a panel of TakeGreatPictures.com photographers. The winner will receive a weekend trip for two to any location in the continental United States. TakeGreatPictures.com will also send a photographer to the winner’s hometown to take a picture at the local PMA member retailer, which will be posted on TakeGreatPictures.com and in national photography magazines like Outdoor Photographer, PC Photo, and others.

PMA members can support the program by downloading and displaying National Photo Month point-of-purchase displays tying into the  contest at www.pmai.org/npm.
TakeGreatPictures.com site visitors do not need to make prints or be an active customer at a local retailer to be a part of the contest. The contest winner, however, must meet TakeGreatPictures.com at a local retailer to have their picture taken.
