Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y., previewed a range of high-definition products offering new ways for consumers to share photos and other digital content last night at a press event in New York, N.Y. The suite of high definition (HD)-enabled products includes two new category introductions for Kodak: the Kodak Theatre HD Player and Kodak Zi6 Pocket Video Camera. Kodak also introduced the Kodak EasyShare Z1015 IS Digital Camera, Kodak EasyShare M1093 IS Digital Camera, and Kodak EasyShare W-Series Digital Frames.

“Consumers are asking for solutions that free their trapped images from PCs, memory cards and digital cameras. They are asking for sleek and innovative, yet intuitive devices. They want an abundance of resources for capturing and displaying content in HD,” said John Blake, general manager, Digital Capture and Devices, and vice president, Eastman Kodak Co. in a release. “The innovative portfolio introduced addresses those needs and will inspire consumers to experience and explore moments they love in exciting new ways.”
Revolutionizing the way images and video can be enjoyed in HD, the Kodak Theatre HD Player is an interactive device that displays personal and web-based content on an HDTV, while wirelessly connecting to a household’s private Wi-Fi Network. Able to display HD still images (16:9 Aspect Ratio) and video (720p) on a HDTV, the remote operated Kodak Theatre HD Player lets consumers relive memories through a HD slide show, as well as edit and upload images and videos to popular online content sharing sites. “Most people don’t realize how many things Kodak does, and how many lives it touches,” said Phil Scott, director of Marketing, Kodak Digital Capture and Devices, at the New York event.

As people take more and more images, those pictures can get locked up in devices. Kodak aims to help consumers make, manage, and move their Kodak moments, Scott continued. “People sometimes forget they have those pictures.”
Through unique partnerships with leaders in photo sharing, such as Kodak Gallery and Flickr, the Kodak Theatre HD Player provides consumers with easy and compelling ways to share pictures with friends and families, says the company. Additional partnerships with FrameChannel (a service of Frame Media Inc.), YouTube, and RadioTime provide access to more than imaging content, offering an interactive and engaging multimedia experience. The Kodak Theatre HD Player is also compatible with USB drives and SD memory cards. The Kodak Theatre HD Player will retail for $299.99 and will be available in September at select Best Buy stores, Kodak.com, and Amazon.com.
Kodak also introduces the new wireless W1020 and W820 digital frame models, offering 800-by-480 high-resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio digital display in 10-inch and 8-inch (diagonal) frames, respectively. These frames also include the Quick Touch Border, which was recently introduced, allowing for simple operation with a touch or slide of a finger, while leaving the screen fingerprint and smudge-free. Frames include 512MB of internal memory and also contain two memory card slots. Enhancing the Wi-Fi connectivity of the W1020 and W820 Digital Frames, Kodak has exclusively collaborated with Kodak Gallery and Flickr, to enable additional photo-sharing options, while an agreement with FrameChannel offers consumers access to online news and information. With more than 200 channels of dynamic content, connection to FrameChannel via Kodak EasyShare Wireless Digital Frames will let consumers access and view the latest news, weather, traffic, sports scores, and more. FrameChannel also acts as a portal enabling access to images from popular photo-sharing and social networking websites. Additionally, when activated the Kodak Picture Mail feature notifies Kodak EasyShare Wireless Digital Frame users with an on-frame message letting them know that a Kodak Gallery member is sharing new pictures. In addition, members can now send pictures directly from their frame to their friends’ frames through Kodak Gallery.
“Now a digital wireless frame is not only a window into your world, but it’s a window into what’s important to you,” said Scott at the New York event.
The new Kodak Zi6 Pocket Video Camera is the first dedicated pocket digital video camera from Kodak. The simple-to-use video camera offers HD video capture (720p at 60fps with 16:9 aspect ratio), viewed via a 2.4-inch TFT LCD screen. The dedicated ArcSoft video software, included with the camera, allows consumers to quickly edit, personalize and share videos, and instantly upload them to video-sharing sites such as YouTube, from any computer. The Kodak Zi6 Pocket Video Camera will be available in late September for $179.95.
The new high-zoom Kodak EasyShare Z1015 IS Digital Camera boasts 10-megapixel resolution and a Schneider-Kreuznach 15x optical zoom and 28mm wide-angle lens. This camera allows consumers to capture both long distances and wide-angle shots. The image quality of the Z1015 IS is further enhanced with its ability to take HD still images (16:9 aspect ratio) and video (720p at 30fps), which can be viewed on the camera’s 3-inch LCD screen. The Z1015 IS also features smart capture technology, which intuitively detects the particular scene being shot and automatically adjusts the camera’s settings to capture the best still images possible. For greater detail in both highlight and shadow areas, the camera, while set in smart capture mode, will automatically and intelligently expose the image using Kodak Perfect Touch processing. With best-in-class picture capture speed (less then 0.2 sec.), optical image stabilization, face detection and high ISO settings (up to 6400), the Z1015 IS allows consumers to capture brighter, clearer shots in low-light or fast-action situations, whether in auto-mode or manually altering the camera’s settings, says the company. The Kodak EasyShare Z1015 IS Digital Camera will be available in September for $349.95.
